This week’s Word of the Week is “prerogative”.  It means a right or privilege to a person or group.  If your child uses this word at home, please let me know.

Please review and initial your child’s planer each night for their homework assignments.

Spelling:  Here are this week’s spelling words.  Please review these words with your child.  There will be a test on Friday.

Reading:  We finished lesson 1 of Unit 2 today.  Students were tested in vocabulary and the reading comprehension strategy from the main selection.  This week, we will do a reading activity that combines reading with art.  Please continue to encourage your child to read and discuss a book each night for at least 15 minutes.

Math:  We are at the end of Topic 3.  The next few days, we will be reviewing multiplication strategies and the test will be on Friday.  Please continue to encourage your child to practice their math facts each night.

Science:  We started a new unit called Human Uses of Energy.  We discussed different types of energy and what makes energy renewable and nonrenewable.

Social Studies:  In Chapter 3, we are discussing the early history of Florida.  We learned about the different countries that wanted control over Florida and how that effected the different people that lived here during the 1700-1800’s.

If you have any questions, please let me know.
