5th Grade Homework


Homework is used as a way to reinforce and improve what was taught in class. It is very  important and needs to be turned in on time. Homework will be given/assigned on FRIDAY and will be due the following FRIDAY! 

Week of 8/19-8/23: Understanding Place Value 

Log into Pearson Realize and Complete Lessons 1:1-1:5( You may print out the assignments or you may complete online)

Week of 8/26-8/30 : Multiplying Whole Numbers

Log into Pearson Realize and Complete the online assessment. THERE WILL BE A TEST ON FRIDAY(8/30)!!!  Please review the following concepts: Multiplying by 1,2, and 3 digit numbers !

Week of 9/2-9/6

There is no school on Monday, and with the possibility of Dorian hitting, there is no homework. I ask that all families be safe!

Week of 9/9-9/13  Writing and Interpreting Numerical Expressions 

Students will be given a math packet of four pages on Monday, September 9, and it needs to be returned on Friday, Sept. 13! This packet will cover understanding how to write and interpret numerical expressions.

Week of 9/16-9/20 Writing and Interpreting Numerical Expressions 

We will still be working on Interpreting and Evaluating Numerical Expressions! Please take a look at the Words and Phrases to Math Symbols cheat sheet attached to this weeks homework! Students need to complete additional practice sheets pgs. 185-190! This will be sent home on 9/13 and due next Friday! THERE IS A TEST ON FRIDAY, SEPTEMBER 20TH! For additional practice, log on to Pearson Realize and complete Topic 13 activities! 

Week 9/23-9/27 Understanding Place Value 

Math:  We will be focusing on the understanding of place value of both whole numbers and decimals. Students will learn how to read, write, compare and round decimals to the thousandths. Students need to complete additional practice sheets pgs.1-8~ This will be sent home on 9/20 and due next Friday!

Science: Please bring in a 24 oz. soda bottle on Monday(9/23) for our “Science Experiment.

Week 9/30-10/3 Understanding Place Value 

Math:  We will be continuing to focus on the understanding of place value of both whole numbers and decimals. Students will learn how to read, write, compare and round decimals to the thousandths. Students need to complete additional practice sheets pgs.11-14 and 17~18. This will be sent home on 9/27 and due next Friday!

Week 10/7-10/11 Understanding Place Value 

Math: We will be continuing to focus on the understanding of place value of both whole numbers and decimals. Students will learn how to read, write, compare and round decimals to the thousandths. Students need to complete additional practice sheets pgs. 15-24  This will be sent home on 10/4 and due next Friday! THERE WILL BE A TEST ON WEDNESDAY 10/9!

Science/Health:  Students will be bringing home “life-size” skeletons. These are for them to learn and understand the bones of the body! They must have the placement and the names of the bones memorized for a QUIZ ON 10/9!

Week 10/21-10/25 Operations with Decimals 

Math: We are still working on operations with decimals. This week, we will be multiplying decimals. I have sent home place value sheets to help students keep decimals and whole numbers aligned when completing these operations.  Students need to complete additional practice sheets pgs. 45-51. This assignment was sent home on Thursday, and is due on Friday (10/25) There will be a test on adding and subtracting decimals on 10/23!

Week 10/28-11/01 Operations with Decimals 

Math: We are still working on operations with decimals. This week, we will be multiplying decimals. I have sent home place value sheets to help students keep decimals and whole numbers aligned when completing these operations.  There is no homework( Students are still missing assignments from last week! Please ensure they have the assignments so they can still receive credit!)

Week 11/4-11/8 Operations with Decimals 

Math: We are still working on operations with decimals. This week, we will be multiplying decimals. I have sent home place value sheets to help students keep decimals and whole numbers aligned when completing these operations.  THERE IS A TEST ON TUESDAY, 11/5 ! This test will cover operations with decimals! Homework for this week is additional practice pgs. 53 and 57 due on Friday, 11/8!

Week of 11/11-11/15 Using Equivalent Fractions to Add and Subtract Fractions 

Math: This week we are beginning to work on understanding Fractions, and understanding how to add and subtract fractions with unlike denominators. Students also need to understand how to divide and multiply in order to understand to complete these assignments. Homework for this week is additional practice pgs. 95,97,99 and 103.

Week of 11/18-11/23 Multiplying Fractions 

Math: This week we are beginning to work on understanding Fractions, and understanding how to multiply fractions with whole numbers Students also need to understand how to divide and multiply in order to understand to complete these assignments. Homework for this week is additional practice pgs. 115,117,119 THERE IS A TEST ON TUESDAY, 11/19 on Adding and Subtracting Fractions! 

Health: Students have their digestive system test on Wednesday! (They will label the organs of this system)
